The Xbox 360, launched on May 12, 2005, is the successor to Microsoft's popular Xbox video game console from 2001.


During development, the Xbox 360 console went under various code names, such as Project Xenon and NextBox.
Designed to compete with the Nintendo Wii and the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3), the Xbox 360 boasts some great features, as could be expected from a next generation gaming system. Up next we will list a few:
Backwards Compatibility - This enables you to play many of the top-sellers of the Xbox games collection on your 360 console. (This requires the Xbox 360 Hard Drive.)
The Xbox 360 backwards compatibility software is updated from time to time, and is available as a download through Xbox Live, and in various other ways. And speaking of
Downloads - Log into Xbox.com, download a game, burn it to a CD or DVD or store it on a memory stick, and take it over to your friend's house to play the game there. (Parts may be needed to hook up and download, so check with your place of purchase.)
5.1 Digital Surround Sound - Play music using the hard drive, or by streaming it from your MP3 player hooked up to one of the Xbox 360's USB 2.0 ports.
Personalization - The Xbox 360 has an interchangeable faceplate. Get one in the color scheme and/or design of your liking and customize your console to match your personal style.
